Potty Training and Kyrie's recovery

This past week and a half have been very busy, stressful, and long. Kyrie was still recovering from her surgery and wasn't feeling well all week. On top of the pain of the surgery she got a stomach bug on Tuesday, and for a couple of days spent a lot of time in the bath room. She was up many times a night running to the bathroom to go potty or needing to be tucked back in. There were many sleepless nights. She has since recovered from the bug and started eating meals again on Saturday, one week after her surgery. Her post surgery appointment was on Monday and the surgeon said it's healing well. She still had a couple stitches but they should dissolve or fall out soon. The Pathology report came back from the cyst and it was a Pilomatricoma; or in my kind of terms, something like a calcified hair follicle. It is not common but usually happens in people under the age of 20 and on the head or neck. She fits into both of those fields. They said it shouldn't come back but could take up to 10 months for her body to completely fill in the hole from where they cut it out. Lucky for her you can't tell it happened from the outside. She is excited that it's summer and begs me everyday to go swimming.

On Monday I started potty training Ryan. The first 2 days were horrible and he wasn't very successful. I knew though if I gave up it would just make the process harder. I was very pleased and surprised then when yesterday he went the whole day with no accidents. Go Ryan! He has done almost as well today and we hope he continues to do well so we can get out of the house and enjoy the summer. This is how he has looked the last couple of days; no shirt and being super Ryan.

Wow, what a couple week you've had! I'm so glad Kyrie's feeling better and her recovery is going well. I can't imagine getting a stomach bug in the middle of trying to recover from surgery :( Great job, Ryan with the potty training! He's getting so big!

I love the "Super Ryan" outfit! Nothing like the super hero in you to help the super hero in him figure out the potty. I am thrilled for him. And thrilled for you that that horrible, sleepless week is passed. Hope you are able to enjoy summer soon.
