Shore day with daddy!

The days we get to have Luke home with us are few and far between these days. He started his Internal medicine sub-internship rotation and works even more long hours. I particularly hate the call nights that he is at the hospital for an average of 30 hours. In those cases the kids go a couple of days without seeing him. Yesterday was one of his only 2 days off between now and mid-July so we took advantage of it and went to the beach. We are lucky to only live about 1.5 hours from the Belmar, NJ shore areas. This was Luke's first trip to the beach since we moved here over 3 years ago. It ended up being wonderful weather and a very fun family outing!

This picture is the only time Ryan touched the water. It just shows how different my kids are. Kyrie couldn't get enough of the water and she in the ocean most of the time, whereas Ryan didn't want anything to do with it and preferred to play in the sand with his tractors. Either way everyone had so much fun and it was hard to leave when the time came.
Kyrie found this little creature when she was sifting sand with her toys. We had no idea what it was but it was a fun discovery for the kids.
I saw Kyrie and Luke sitting in the water just talking and watching the waves. It was such an adorable moment to see Kyrie hanging out with her daddy.

I put this picture on here just for my dad. He loves planes and would have got a kick out of all the little planes that fly by with advertisements following them.
We lucked out to have cloud cover for some of the time, and the temperatures in the mid-80's were perfect for the beach.

Luke and I took turns with the kids since Kyrie always wanted to be in the sea and Ryan just wanted to play in the sand. I mean, what boy wouldn't be happy with free rein to get as dirty as he wants?
P.S. The showers by the beach are wonderful!

The kids are already asking to go back and I am sure we will later in the summer. Who can resist the fun?

I'm a little, ok a lot jealous. The only time I've been to the beach in my life was last summer in San Diego, and it was during June gloom and was cloudy and cold and miserable. And, I long for mid-eighties! I'm so glad you guys could go play with Luke!!! great pictures.

Aww I love that pic of them watching the waves! It's definitely good to get out and do something when you don't get much time together. That bug/creature was really interesting though. I wonder what it was?
