I think mother nature had it in for the east coast with us getting an earthquake and hurricane in the same week. And what a week it has been. To be honest, I would not wish to repeat it. When the weather men started to warn us about the hurricane, I made sure to get stocked up on batteries, water, and anything else we may need. We were very fortunate that we didn't need to use any of it. Although it was a super long night and had some tense moments. The worst part for me was at about 10:45 pm when the tornado warning went out. We had a tornado watch for the whole night but the warnings were very specific to small areas and were issued because the radar picked up rotations in the clouds. I knew that because there had been a tornado in Delaware earlier that they were actually serious about it. During the 25 minutes or so of the warning the winds really picked up and it became a little more scary. I decided at that moment it was time to get the kids up and hang out in the bathroom for awhile. (the kids slept through most of it because we had a fan on high drowning out the noise) We didn't tell the kids why we got them up, nor did I let them look out the window for fear that it would freak Ryan out. After about 20 tense minutes the warning was lifted and we put the kids back into their room. The rain I think was the worst. There was so much of it and we were already saturated before this storm hit. Because we were so lucky not to loose power we were able to keep the news on all night. And I do mean all night. I took a nap from 1-2 am and then to bed for the night at 3 am but Luke didn't come in until 6 am. We wanted to make sure there were no more tornado warnings and to make sure our drain in front of our garage stayed clear so our garage wouldn't flood. The wind has been strong but not as strong as they thought, but there was tons of flooding in the city and many of the roads were closed.
I tried to get some good pictures and videos but with it being night for most of the storm it didn't work out. This is the only one I could get that even showed anything at all.
I am so glad it's over and that we were protected and blessed. We didn't loose our power and didn't have any real damage to any of our property. For that we are thankful.

WOW! I have not envied your situation, although I did worry over it, knowing you guys were there in it. I'm so glad nothing was damaged, or flooded with your property. What a scary night though! Man, that video is crazy with the rain just pouring down, flying all over! Hopefully the weather can calm down on the East coast now!
I'm like you, so grateful the power didn't go out and no major damage was done.I didn't even know about the tornado warnings. I went to bed at 11pm and slept great! I guess ignorance is bliss!
I'm glad you are all safe and that no damage was done. Who was the crazy person on there driving around in your video clip?!? Sheesh! It frustrates me that there are people out there that don't think about the other lives they are risking by not heading the warnings. I'm glad Luke was able to be home with you and not assigned to be at the hospital. I can't imagine much worse than having to ride that out on your own. Thanks for the update! I'm so grateful you all are safe!
After talking to you last night, I am ever so thankful you guys didn't have anything big happen. I hope you can get caught up on sleep today. And I agree... you guys have had your natural disaste quota for the year. Love you guys!
