Back on February 25th was the youth temple trip to the DC Temple. We had to leave by 7:00 am to make it to our 10:30 am appointment since it's a 3 hour drive down there. The wind was very strong and cold that day so I didn't get any group pictures this time. I did hurry and snap a couple pictures of the temple on my way back to the car. We had a nice turn out for this trip and it ended up being a very wonderful experience. I always love being able to go and be of service for a short time, and to feel of the Saviors spirit and love. I always enjoy my time in the temple and I hope the youth do too.
This was our hiccup on the trip down. As you get closer to the temple you actually drive though a park with lots of people riding bikes and running on a busy trail. The wind was so strong that it actually blew one of the large metal gates in the park open, right into the van I was riding in. At first I thought a car hit us but when I looked back no one was there. Because we caravan down, we had someone from our group right behind us who saw the whole thing. We were still able to get all the youth to the temple on time and do the baptisms. The tricky part was rearranging rides to fit the 5 of us into other vehicles for the ride home since the van wasn't drivable. The center post between the doors is what stopped the gate from going all the way through the van and seriously injuring someone. We were very blessed and watched over and it I think it was a lesson in faith for the girls. It was terrible that it happened but I know we were protected from harm.
It still turned out to be a really great day and it's one I don't think I will ever forget.

Oh wow!!! So glad you're all safe! The temple is gorgeous! So cool that you get to go to so many different temples! :)
Who knew a gate could do that damage?! i had no idea that happened to you guys that day. I'm glad it wasn't your car. It is smaller and probably would have done more damage...not to mention your car just got fixed from an accident. Glad no one was hurt! I love that temple. i hope I can see it in person one day.
